faridabad| Mr. Ghany Sadoon, 79 year old known case of critical triple vessel disease, kidney disease & history of brain hemorrhage recently visited metro hospital, Faridabad for his treatment and complaints of chest pain (Angina). He is a British citizen (London) and beneficiary of free treatment under National health services (NHS). He underwent coronary angiography at famous tertiary hospital of NHS, London where he was found to have triple vessel disease. He was also having underlying kidney disease. So heart specialist advised him to undergo bypass surgery which will be high risk considering his age and associated medical conditions. They offered him bypass surgery & decided not to do angioplasty of very complex difficult to treat disease by angioplasty. But he decided to come to India for taking treatment at Metro Heart Institute with Multispecialty about which he heard from his relatives and friends.
He was seen by Dr. S.S Bansal, Sr. International cardiologist & Managing Director of the hospital. There were two concerns of this patient. First he did not want bypass surgery and secondly treatment should be risk free & trouble free. Angioplasty in this patient was challenging & very difficult as Dr. Bansal explained. Old age & associated medical condition & kidney condition, angioplasty stenting was difficult because of critical left main disease along with many other critical blocks in right as well as left heart arteries. After stabilization, Dr. Bansal and his team decided to perform angioplasty where 4 drug coated stents were used successfully.
Patient has recovered fast and very cheerful now. Very fact that being beneficiary of free treatment by NHS in London, he chose India & Indian doctors for this complicated procedure which itself speaks about the faith entire world is having in Indians doctors & hospitals said Dr. Bansal. It’s a matter of pride for Indian medical fraternity that our quality of healthcare & competence of doctors are attracting people even from developed countries to avail health services for very complicated surgical procedures, he added. One point to be noticed here is that he had an option of free treatment in London & had to spend in India. Still he preferred Faridabad hospital because of his faith in Indian doctors.
This is for the first time in India that a patient left the option of free treatment in one of the most reputed hospital in Europe and chose Indian hospital for his serious heart problem. It is a moment of pride for all Indians that India is recognized as global medical hub and Faridabad is actually turning into a smart city as in perceived by our dear PM sahib.
