faridabad। Science is the crucial part of the Indian Education System. Many Scientists, Astrologers, Mathematicians, Astronomers have contributed their research and inventions to keep India ahead in the race. Manav Rachna International University has always been insightful in providing Faculties and students alike with the latest and up to date knowledge on important and relevant topics in Science. Hence, they celebrated National Science Day on the theme, ‘Science and Technology for specially abled persons, Ability beyond Limit’ under the common vision of University Grant commission (UGC). The guests included specially abled children from NGOs like PRABHAT and ASSOCIATION FOR WELFARE OF HANDICAPPED.
The objective of the event was to sensitize Students about how Science and Technology help in shaping their lives. While inaugurating the event, Dr. N.C. Wadhwa, Vice Chancellor, MRIU, said, “Since Life without Science cannot be imagined, celebrating such an event at Manav Rachna provides a platform to young minds to showcase their creativity and talent, further sensitizing them about the role of Science and Technology in shaping their lives.”
Also, present on the occasion were–Dr. B.S. Gill, Executive Director, MR Innovation and Incubation Centre; Dr. G.L. Khanna, Dean, FAS; Dr. Amit Saroha, Para-Olympic Sports Person; Dr. Vandana Phadke, a doctorate from University of Minnesota, USA; Dr. Vikram Sharma, a pioneer in the field of Arthroscopic Surgery and Sports Medicine from Fortis Hospital, Jaipur; Dr. Suparna Tandon, Physiotherapist, ISIC, New Delhi; Mr. Nekram Upadhyay, Head, Department of Assistive Technology, ISIC, India.

While Dr. Suparna Tandon, Physiotherapist, ISIC, New Delhi, provided insights on ‘Assistive Technology in sports; Dr. Nekram Upadhyay, Head, Department of Assistive Technology, ISIC, India, discussed the ‘Role of Assistive technology and its provisions and services in India’.

There was a panel discussion session of Students conducted by Dr. Vandana Phadke, a doctorate from University of Minnesota, USA; Dr. Vikram Sharma, a pioneer in the field of Arthroscopic Surgery and Sports Medicine from Fortis Hospital, Jaipur  and Dr. Suparna Tandon wherein they emphasized on the policy amendments to be undertaken to make the environment more disabled friendly.

Further, to mark the celebrations of the National Science Day, Department Of Biotechnology, FET, MRIU, celebrated Futuristic Biotech wherein over 44 Students participated from MRIU, Faridabad and Saraswati Mahavidyalaya, Palwal in Poster Making and Slogan Writing Competition. They even organized a Debate Competition on ‘Genetically Modified Organisms’ (GMOs) to disseminate knowledge and enlighten the public in general about the technology which is being used to modify the genetic make-up of an organism.
Towards the end, students were made aware about the technologies and innovations for the specially abled.
